Skins with imperfections: everything you need to know for your skincare

It is useless to torment ourselves, we have all wondered, so much so that it is one of the most searched topics on the web: which is the skincare right for skin with imperfections? Because, whether we like it or not, we've all gone through the stage where our skin, even well after puberty, is studded with blemishes, blackheads and oiliness.

Go back to those who only talk about bad nutrition: many factors contribute to impure skin, in particular stress, hormonal imbalances, pollution, climatic changes and, last but not least, a skincare that is not suitable for our skin type.

Skin with imperfections: combination or oily skin?

The first thing to do is try to identify your skin type in order to be able to structure the most suitable skincare to restore the correct hydrolipidic film of the skin.

combination skin is easily recognizable by its non-uniformity: very often, in fact, it simultaneously presents the characteristics of dry skin (often near the cheekbones, eyes and lips) and other more impure skins (generally the famous T-zone made up of the forehead, nose and chin).

The oily skin, on the other hand, can be defined, depending on the characteristics, oily or asphyxiated. In the first case, generally the most common, the skin has blackheads, dilated pores, imperfections and a diffused clarity all over the face. In the second case, however, the skin is also rich in impurities but dry and rough to the touch.

All the steps for your skincare routine

The golden rule of any good skincare routine lies in carefully cleansing the face with a product that is as effective as it is delicate. In fact, an overly aggressive cleanser could cause the annoying rebound effect, leading the skin to produce more sebum to self-rebalance. A good specific detergent must always be combined with the right facial tonic, in able to complete the cleansing routine, removing any smog and make-up residues, and to normalize and hydrate the skin.

It's a common thought that combination or oily skins don't need hydration but that's not the case! Skins with imperfections should always be hydrated, preferring a cream with a light texture and rich in active ingredients and functional substances capable of counteracting blemishes.

Once or twice a week, finally, it is advisable to use an exfoliating product, preferably enzymatic, to remove dead cells from the face, purify the skin and make it brighter (avoiding the odious dull skin effect typical of skin with imperfections).

The indispensable beauty tip? Obviously a mattifying primer rich in active ingredients, able to counteract the appearance of imperfections and regulate sebum production, keeping thus under control the lucidity of the face without drying the skin.

The essential active ingredients for skin with imperfections

Niacinamide: also known as vitamin PP or B3, it is one of the most used active ingredients in products for combination and oily skin.

In addition to regulating sebum production, niacinamide not only helps to reduce scars and acne marks but also helps promote skin hydration, restoring its hydrolipidic film.

Salicylic acid: beta-hydroxy acid par excellence, a category which together with alpha-hydroxy acids makes up the so-called fruit acids, is an excellent ally to fight acne and to fight skin inflammation by treating superficial and exerting its antibacterial action
